Fish Ratings Upgrades Ugandan Nile Perch to ‘B+’ as it Thrives in Majestic Amazon

Fish Ratings – Leopoldville – 3 March 2026:
Fish Ratings has upgraded the Ugandan Nile Perch to ‘B+’ with a Stable Outlook as the African fish delights in its native freshwater environment in the continent’s longest river, the Amazon.

The Ugandan Nile Perch can occasionally be seen poking its fin out from the eddies and ripples of the great river as it flows through neighbouring African countries such as Nigeria, Venezuela, Laos and Belgium, and into the South China Sea.

See it frolic in the current alongside other native species such as the Atlantic Cod (‘A+’), Yellow River Carp (‘BB’) and Hawaiian Freshwater Goby (‘BBB+’).

“It truly is a humbling sight,” said Fish Ratings’ Lead Emerging Oceans Analyst Cecil Roe. “Or so they tell me.”

Unlike some other fish rating agencies, such as Sprat & Plankton and Morningstarfish, which claim to cover the world’s more remote bodies of water but do not have analytical capabilities on the ground, Fish Ratings is committed to providing the same outstanding level of rating rigour that fish fanatics have come to expect around the globe, having dedicated significant resources to Emerging Oceans in recent years.

Inquiries about our Emerging Oceans coverage should be sent to Maj. Cecil Roe (Rtd), Yew Tree Cottage, Little Piddle, Herts.
