Fish Ratings – New York – 10 November 2019
FishRatings has affirmed Catfish’s Long-term Default Fish Rating at ‘BBB-‘ with a Stable Rating Outlook.
The rating affirmation and Stable Outlook consider Catfish’s long whisker-like barbels and significant diversification resulting from the fact that there are more than 3,000 species of Catfish.
Recent changes to the taxonomy of Catfish (Ferraris, 2007) have not had a material impact on Catfish’s metrics, which remain consistent with a ‘BBB-‘ rating on a standalone basis.
“The blackened catfish I had at Zeke’s Cajun Kitchen last night was soft and flaky but they could be a bit more generous with the seasoning, which limits it to a low investment grade rating,” said Ahab Gonzales, senior ratings analyst at Fish Ratings.
Despite the name, Catfish exhibits only weak correlation with Cat (Unrated). More relevant comparables include Dogfish (BBB+), Tiger Shark (A-) and Purrrch (Ratings Withdrawn).
